A comprehensive overall guide to the islands of Scotland, mainly intended for the walker & climber, but with a wealth of information that might be of interest to the more inquisitive general visitor.
The introduction covers general topics such as recommended maps, access and weather plus an overview of the geology, natural and social histories of the areas.
In the main section, for each of the many islands included there is information on appropriate maps, highest point, access, transport, accommodation, a general description, the principal hills and where appropriate notes on paths & walks and the possibilities for rock climbing.
In the edition I have, the section on Skye covers 128 of the total 406 pages.
* The Amazon.co.uk page says paperback, but my copy and all the others I have seen are hardcover!
+ Though published in 1989, the book was updated in 1995.
